Re: Event Filters Not Running

On the filters page, when you pick the filter, the display refreshes (hopefully) with the details, and should show what the filter's current settings are. It should also have a little "*" at the enf of the filter name, and the word [background] after it. Just next to the selection box. Use...

Thanks, but are archived events stored in a different location?
No -- it's a database flag, no data is actually moved to "archive" the event. :)

Re: Event Filters Not Running

Did you "Save" after any changes you made, and did you tick/select "Run Filter In Background" which will keep it going? "Execute", "Submit" only run the filter once (Submit: shows you what WOULD happen/what WOULD match, for fine tuning and experimenting, vs Ex...

Re: Cams in different networks

Hi guys, So say i have a server set up in my house and i want to monitor the camera at my friends's house, they have a static ip and has setup port forwarding on the their router for, say port 99, would i be able to add that as a cam in my zm? Okay so i have now found the "remote zm" pres...

Re: Filter to convert event to video and remove JPEGs?

I've no idea if the delete and video creation will work in the way you say, in that delete will blow away the newly made video (or delete the JPGS and then fail to make a video!) What I do know is this: If you force the videos to be created OUTSIDE the usual ZM event directories, it doesn't get dele...

"zms" is not in your $PATH, it's not in the path on my system either. Try looking in /var/www/cgi-bin/zms root@perkin:~# which zms which: no zms in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/lib/java/bin:/usr/lib/kde4/libexec:/usr/lib/qt/bin:/usr/share/te...

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

My cams are hooked to my DVR and work good on my TV and of course windows handle my cams online. Oh! I was *not* expecting that, hence the general confusion here -- usually analogue cameras only connect to the PC running ZoneMinder directly! :) Well that's another configuration to be aware of! If t...

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

That's your graphics card: (Output!) What you need is an analog capture card (Input!) You can get dedicated PCI/PCI express cards with 4-16 inputs better suited for CCTV. Or use an older analog TV card (like Hauppauge Win-TV cards). If your Linux install supports them, USB capture dongles (like used...

Re: How Do I Put The Pieces Together?

It's not LAMP *and* the others, LAMP *is* the others :) It stands for Linux Apache MySQL Perl It looks like you've got a bit of reading ahead of you, but it will all be worthwhile. You may well already have Apache and Perl installed, if you have linux. You may need to configure and switch Apache on ...

Re: Question on purging

In which case you've got me stumped! If there is only one file system, with everything in it (All of your OS, files, and zoneminder's events) and it's only 8% full, then you have one (1) HUGE file system :) Simple, but not optimal setup. Or you have more than one file system, with an (unspecified) %...

Re: Question on purging

OK that looks good, but maybe you are not on the same page as ZoneMinder regarding "used" and "free" If you are trying to tell ZoneMinder to only use up to 8% of the disk -- then that would seem sensible for testing. But ... big but ... only if Zoneminder events are the ONLY THIN...

Re: Question on purging

Is there any way to get around this? Yes. Set the filter up correctly next time! :) Sometimes it's better to submit the filter and see what it does before allowing it to execute . That way you find out what it's about to do before it does nothing/too much. Do you still have the filter settings you ...

Re: problem with same camera

If you can't access the cameras directly (their OWN web pages) then it sounds like they've crashed. This could be bad firmware, causing a memory leak, brought on by you using them continuously. 1) Update firmware in cameras to latest, if the manufacturer has fixed the problem ... 2) If there's an au...

Re: Filtering: Syntax for Signal Lost Event?

I fear you may be looking in the wrong place -- I'd be happy for someone to shoot this down though :) If you are using the "filters" tab, that is for filtering Events -- that's where I see "Notes" and "Cause" fields. You're not looking for events, but for log entries --...

Re: local video file

If you really want to test it with a VIDEO file (for testing motion detection on a pre-recorded, predictable file), as it appears you might be doing, try this :- I got an "mjpeg" stream from my camera into a file, and although it wasn't viewable in XINE/VLC, I used ffmpeg -r 5 -i input.mjp...
