Re: Batch delete generated videos from events?
@PacoLM -- you are correct, but I think you have missed the point of the question :) Given that the videos HAVE been created (easily) by a filter .... how do you delete JUST the generated video (.avi) without blowing away the whole event (DB entry and JPGs too)? I don't think there's a ZM way to do ...

Re: Record mpeg vs images?
ZM can already convert the .JPGS to a movie, check out the "Filters" options, one of which is "convert to movie". Of course, if you do this for EVERY event you will find that you a) eat a lot of processor time, and b) eat even more disk space as you'll have the JPGs *and* a movie...

Re: Record mpeg vs images?
Quite likely. You are effectively comparing MPEG (with intra-frame compression) with MJPEG (with NO intra-frame compression). Things get bigger!
Also 13GB on the NIC = 13GB of "RTSP" data, which could be even better compressed than your example MPEG, so an even bigger discrepancy in size!

I don't know the answer, but this is at least the third time I've seen this kind of behaviour reported -- it's not just you. Or it's a big co-incidence! https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=24974&p=95404&hilit=%22Sending+KILL+to+pid%22#p95404 https://forums.zoneminder.com/v...

Re: Storage Spread Over 5 Drives
LVM of 5 drives is another implementation of "jbod" (strapping 5 real disks into 1 big virtual disk), as mentioned by @knnniggett This doesn't solve the OP's apparent problem of wanting to spread (distribute) over 5 disks -- for whatever reason -- as a) Zoneminder can only write to 1 locat...

Re: ZM causes usb disk to malfunction?
Interesting fault! That error "lost page write due to I/O error on ..." is not a good sign. It means potential data loss and disk corruption, so experiment with care, or sticks with data you don't care about -- you may need to reformat them later! Is it ALWAYS the same block number (no mat...

Re: Restart Zoneminder Automatically
root@perkin:~# zmpkg.pl status running should do it ... Or ... just root@perkin:~# zmpkg.pl start periodically anyway -- if it's already running, it comes back quickly without doing anything. Of course none of this is the root cause of why your Zoneminder is stopping itself, you may wish to hunt th...

Re: Create one video from multiple consecutive events
Not found a 1 step ZM solution, but ... I use this to join multiple .avi's (xvid/mp4 format) from Zoneminder ... mencoder *.avi -ovc copy -of avi -force-avi-aspect 4:3 -o mergedclip.avi Seems to join with no loss/errors/recoding, so works for me. If they were mpeg files, you could get away with just...

Re: Filter Time Format
If I've understood you correctly ... The filter time specification is not "when the filter will run" but "what event spec will be caught in the filter". It will run whenever ZM deems it necessary (either because you fired it manually, or because it is set to 'background' and it's...

Re: Running out of disk space
The steps above won't clear out your disk events directly.
ZMAudit (when it next runs) may get very busy deleting the disk files (jpgs/videos) which no longer have a corresponding database entry (due to you having an empty database.)

I'm having a logical crisis reading your posting.
The time is always "now", and the event time unlikely to be greater than "now", unless you wind the PC clock back.
I don't know if ZoneMinder operates the same policy, but if so, it may be confused too

Re: Reduce Memory consumption
Use fewer cameras. Use lower resolution. Use lower frame rates and shorter circular buffers (pre-roll/pre-event buffer). I don't think you can "beat the system". It takes as much memory as it takes, for the load you have chosen to create. Maybe split the cameras up into 2/3 zones across mo...

Re: Filter dont delete files from disk
Have you got the "Fast Delete" option ticked? This will cause ZM to delete the entry from the database but leaves behind the disk files (jpgs, videos) until ZMAudit runs and tidies up -- you may find that they've gone away "overnight". If this is not the behaviour you want, untic...
