Re: Translation Help Wanted!!

Updated Simplified Chinese translation big5_big5.php is not working in v1.34.20, but shouldn't it be called zh_tw.php ? And according to ISO 639-1, shouldn't cn_zh.php be called zh_cn.php instead? Other relevant locales are zh_sg and zh_hk . References Andiamo! Language Services Ltd (no date) ISO 6...

[SOLVED] Re: Axis M3025-VE - constantly switching between day/night modes

Problem SOLVED! Yes, it needs more hysteresis, it's not rocket science. Automated "dusk lights" have to figure this stuff out so they don't switch themselves off, by switching on ... :) So camera manufacturers really should have fixed this! Absolutely, what I needed is hysteresis, but now ...

Re: Axis M3025-VE - constantly switching between day/night modes

When I have an Axis M3025-VE camera's IR filter on auto, it ticks — switching between day/night modes — like a clock (as in tick-tock, tick-tock) for good several minutes during dusk and dawn. Can't they just have its light sensor less accurate? I have some initial responses from Axis technical sup...

Thanks for very comprehensive info. I think I can trust the Debian team.

Re: Camera backdoor

That's reassuring. I might wish to look at the cameras when I'm away now and then. But I don't need to manage anything remotely, so no ssh nor vpn. BTW, noip.com seems to be exceedingly expensive. It costs $25 a year, whereas my entire web hosting package is only ~$150. Is it possible to run my own ...

Camera backdoor

I read a 2017 article on the Dahua backdoor <https://ipvm.com/reports/dahua-backdoor>. Is this practice wide spread? Apparently, Axis (2018) had a security breach too <https://www.csoonline.com/article/3282787/researchers-disclose-7-flaws-in-390-axis-ip-cameras-remote-attacker-could-take-control.htm...

Re: Thank you and zone sensitivity

Thanks for the tips. Disable JPEG saving, and use ffmpeg. That makes a lot of sense. Why didn't I think of that before? Before: ZMC ~30% CPU per camera, ZMA ~20% After: ZMC unchanged, ZMA ~8% Load is reduced from to ~2.6 to ~1.8 (on a 4-core) Still losing some frames, but not as severe as before. Po...

A couple trivial questions regarding time stamps

I've a couple trivial questions regarding time stamps. Font Size: In additional Default and Large, can we have a Very Large option? Once I made a change to the Timestamp tab: Why can't I set (Timestamp Label X, Timestamp Label X) = (0, 0)? Instead I'm having this error message: "! Valve must be...

Re: Problem with ONVIF auto discovery on Axis M3025-VE

I ain't good at networking, but I start to have some clues. Router (which is also a DCHP server) ====== IP: 192.168.1.1 Network: 192.168.1.0/24 Camera ====== Default IP is 169.254.x.x, nonetheless DCHP server gives a fixed IP of 192.168.1.x On the Dell laptop that works (with onboard Wifi) =========...

Re: Thank you and zone sensitivity

So the alarm event is skipping; i.e. it suddenly shows the car halfway through the picture... I had this issue with a 4K cam. The solution was to do mocord/modect on the low res stream at a low FPS, and then record the high res stream. Linked monitors is another option, if you don't want 24/7 recor...

Re: Thank you and zone sensitivity

The worst case I've seen was an 1.5 seconds gap between two alarm frames. Even worse. I have a gap of 4 seconds between two consecutive alarm frames. The timestamps, that the camera put on and the one by Zoneminder, differ by 8 seconds. Not good. I wonder where to start to reduce them to more accep...

Re: Thank you and zone sensitivity

Glad you liked the documentation on that. Note that if you are interested in object detection, you should also look at the ES with object detection. It now supports the coral edge TPU ($70) and object detection is made affordable without expensive GPUs I have two 2MP cameras on an Intel i5 box, whi...

Thank you and zone sensitivity

Just wanna say thank you to the developers and documentation writers. My 1.34.20 on Debian 10.5 Buster works right out of the box. I yet to learn how to tweak this and that, but basically I have a working systems right away. There are three issues that I face initially. None of them is showstopper. ...

Re: Problem with ONVIF auto discovery on Axis M3025-VE

I fail to reproduce the above problem on my Dell laptop. I wipe it clean and install Debian 10.5 Buster via wired ethernet. And then turn off ethernet and switch to Wifi before installing Zoneminder v1.34.20. As before, ONVIF manages to discover both cameras alright. Without changing the sources, th...
