Re: Best way to migrate from master PPA to 1.28?

So far so good, However when I have my cameras set on libvlc there now stream at a shocking framerate of 1.4fps where before would stream at 15fps, sometimes the camera does jump up to 15fps but then slows back down to 1.4fps. When I switch to ffmpeg it works fine, however I suffer from smudges in ...

Re: Best way to migrate from master PPA to 1.28?

Hi, I'm in the same boat I have a stable install of 1.27.99 however I switched repository's and did the upgrade to 1.28. The upgrade went well and so far so good everything is working as expected. I'll report back if I see any errors. Excellent - thanks for that. Would be interested to hear how you...

Re: Trying to build 1.28 on Ubuntu 14x

Is that actually related to the Zoneminder source location though? Speaking a bit from ignorance here, as I haven't built Zoneminder, but I'd expect that failure to be the result of a header not being picked up by the compiler from an include path, and the include path being set to a dev library ins...

Re: Trying to build 1.28 on Ubuntu 14x

Not tried building Zoneminder from scratch, but, it looks like you're missing the polkit dev package http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libgksu-polkit-dev ? "apt-get install gksu-polkit-dev" Added Later mmm...oh maybe not, an 14.04 - not sure what the equivalent package is in later...

Re: Best way to migrate from master PPA to 1.28?

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-master then add-apt-repository ppa:iconnor/zoneminder apt-get update Ah, thanks, I know I can switch the repository :) . It was more a question about whether there were any issues with doing this. I don't know the relationship between the last...

Best way to migrate from master PPA to 1.28?

Currently using the iconnor's master PPA, as I'm on Ubuntu 14.04. Now, I'd prefer to be using the latest formal release rather than a master snap-shot going forward. However, seeing as I've invested a bit of time getting my master version up and running ;-) . Is there a simple upgrade (sidegrade?) t...

Re: Shared data not initialised by capture daemon

I ought to add that, in my case (and not the OP's) the "WAR-zm_monitor.cpp/424 [Shared data not initialised by capture daemon, some query functions may not be available or produce invalid results]" warning *seems* to be benign. I can view live streams and recordings seem to be fine, but al...

Re: Shared data not initialised by capture daemon

Just looked at the comments on the Github issue, especially: This is actually a warning. It is just telling you that the camera is not recording. It means that the zmc process is not running. You need to look into why zmc is not running. So check in the zmc logs. /var/log/zm/zmc* I also had no outpu...

Re: Shared data not initialised by capture daemon

Seeing exactly the same the same thing. I recently upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 and so moved to iconnor's (very useful, thanks ;-) ) zoneminder-master PPA. This flags the Zoneminder version as v1.27.99.0, but I guess that's just a placeholder Same cameras setup in the same way using ffmpeg (libvlc return...

Re: 1.26.4 Upgrade Failure

I get lots of these smears on my cameras too! Wish I knew how to solve it. YMMV, but I have these issues with all of my h.264 cameras using camera default settings and ffmpeg with ZM 1.26.3 - Foscam, Merrit Lilin and Hikvision. All of them work acceptably (depending on the camera) by dropping frame...

Re: HIKVision Camera

Hi, FFMPEG has issues with RTSP\RTP over UDP (the way it should be), so you all need to add ?tcp to the end of path to force it to use TCP http://ffmpeg.org/pipermail/libav-user/2011-July/000405.html If building ffmpeg from source, you can fix it like described here (by undefining HAVE_PTHREADS): h...

Re: Smearing images making system unusable

I see terrible smearing, as posted here, with a Merit Lilin 1080p camera - the only way I can (mostly) avoid it is by dropping the resolution, bit rate and fps considerably, but then quality suffers... Everything's fine with the camera's own web view. Well, oddly (or maybe not - dunno :) ) I seem t...

Re: Smearing images making system unusable

How performant, for h.264 cameras, is the ffmpeg supplied with the Puppet install of Zoneminder? Re: Only need to display one IP camera at full screen on a P

I want to use a Raspberry Pi to monitor a single 720p IP camera and display that fullscreen. I don't need to record the video or anything else. Would Zoneminder be a good solution for this purpose? Thanks, Mike Personally, with what you're intending to do, I think I'd be trying out motion first: ht...

Re: Upgrade to 1.26.4?

I'd be interested in knowing the procedure here too. I'm using a Puppet install of Zoneminder, but I have tweaked some of the Puppet configured apache config for my own system. Do you just pull the latest repo, re-run the full Puppet install and Zoneminder itself will get re-built without upsetting ...
