Re: Testing zones against stored events?

Or is that too easy?! :? Huh. Mind blown. That's just the kind of big brain thinking I come here for - I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I did see a post from a couple of years ago saying the file source type was broken and probably not much of a priority since no one uses it, but it's wort...

Testing zones against stored events?

I am wondering if there is a way to use stored events (that have already happened and created alarms) to go back and refine zone settings? When my cameras switch from IR to daylight mode they always set off "false" alarms. Since my alarms get sent to a loudspeaker, false alarms are kind of...

Custom Regex for CSF to block bad logins

In case anyone is using CSF/LFD for firewall/bruteforce prevention, I created these rules for 1.34.23 on Ubuntu 20.04 (Apache2) to block IPs that fail to log into ZM. These would go in /etc/csf/regex.custom.pm. # Block Bad Zoneminder logins from apache2 error log. These are case insensitive (note th...

Possible to pass monitor name to nph-zms instead of ID?

This didn't come up in search, but I'm wondering if, when requesting a single image from nph-zms, instead of: /cgi-bin/nph-zms?mode=single&monitor=3 we could use something like /cgi-bin/nph-zms?mode=single& monitor_name=Doorway I tried a few iterations but it doesn't seem to work. I have a s...

Re: Corrupted images for only 1 camera on 3 why?!

I had this issue on some of my Amcrest (formerly foscam?) cameras. Try lowering the bit rate and key frame interval in the camera settings. For mine I'm using 1280x720, key frame interval of 8 and 512 to 1024kbps depending on the camera (go too low and the image quality really suffers though). Zonem...

Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

My issue may be unique. I've noticed that /dev/shm is filling up and I'm not sure why. The zm.mmap files get removed and recreated when I change run states, so ZM seems to be handling them OK, but something else is going on with my system. Anyway, next time you lose a camera check your /dev/shm and ...

Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

I'm using 1280x720, 4fps (limited at the camera, with 6fps at ZM in case of network issues to prevent ZM going crazy), and bit rate 512kbps. I tried bumping that to 1024kbps to see if that would help with the cameras dropping from ZM, but it doesn't make a difference. I haven't tried 1080 because my...

Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

OP, I'm already using ffmpeg and I have the same issue. I can access the camera directly in Firefox when Zoneminder can't see it. When I try to view the stream in ZM I get: getStreamCmdResponse stream error: socket_sendto( /var/run/zm/zms-155531s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory - checkStrea...

Re: Events month?

I don't know if it's configurable (I never really paid attention to the way the columns work), but if you want "last 7 days" you can create a filter on "Date/Time" "greater than" "X days ago" or "X hours ago". It's not as convenient as clicking the c...

Re: DVR PCI card?

Maybe not the answer you want to hear, but at this point given the dropping price of IP cameras and the massive increase in resolution and image quality, I'd go straight to an IP (and PoE) setup. It's so much easier to deal with. Back in the day, the only IP camera option was Axis and they were $100...

[SOLVED] Change ZM state from command line? (zmpkg vs service)

Hi all, SOLUTION (edit 3): I used these lines in my perl script: system("curl -d \"username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&action=login&view=console\" -c cookies.txt http://localhost/zm/index.php"); system("curl -b cookies.txt http://localhost/zm/api/states/change/di...

Re: Unable to view Event Stills, only Streams

Same issue here on a fresh 16.04 & 1.29 install (thanks, LVM, for ruining my weekend). When I click the gray bar at the bottom, there's a div called "eventThumbs" that gets filled in (ajax?) with the event thumbnails (eventThumb1, eventThumb2, etc.). I never had to click anything to sh...

Re: Weird horizontal lines with PV-155 card.

I get this when captures_per_frame and my frame rate for each cam is too high on a card with a shared chip, and it is massively exacerbated when running anything over 320x240. I recommend going to a card or cards that have one BT878 chip per camera. Those shared chip cards that advertise 30fps are s...

Re: Problems with BTTV on 14.04

Ok, replying to myself, I sort of got it working. I put "bt878" in /etc/modules and put: options bttv card=102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102 tuner=4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4 gbuffers=32 chroma_agc=1 in /etc/modprobe.d/bttv.conf and now I get some video (orange sources in console though) and this dmesg:...

[SOLVED] Problems with BTTV on 14.04

Hi all, My ZM box has been humming along nicely for years until a recent heat wave caused total and sudden hard drive failure. As a result, I've decided to start from scratch and rebuild on Ubuntu server 14.04. I've got ZM up and running using this guide (http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubu...
