Re: Viewing on the internet.
and that is all! Nearly all: You may wish to review the security settings on the web-server that now has its sensitive bits dangling out onto the internet. I don't think ZoneMinder comes with settings that will secure the rest of your (say) Apache server, so make sure you lock down everything else ...

Re: Cant see files written by ZM on NAS
Well i finally got my NAS linked and working, i can navigate to the folder and see the folders it is making within Zoneminder HOWEVER, when i try and view the folders/files from a windows PC it seems like they dont exist, I assume its the permissions as ZoneMinder is writing the data but no idea on...

Re: Events no longer being created since linking to NAS
Saw your post in the other thread ... I see you have a smarter NAS than I thought then, if it provides NFS access it probably has a linux-friendly file system underneath, none of this FAT32 nonsense, so you should be better off now. I was worrying/assuming that you had a cheaper one, like mine, that...

Take a look here first ...

and I wonder if whoever wrote that guide you followed has no idea how crappy some of these NAS boxes are, maybe understandably, when trying to Unixy things on a FAT filesystem "inside the box".

Re: Events no longer being created since linking to NAS
Can't symlink eventsn/1/14/02/08/.10 -> eventsn/1/14/02/08/15/01/11: Operation not supported zm_event.cpp 133 Vague worry here about a CIFS/Samba (with underlying FAT filesystem, no doubt) combined with very VERY optimistic attempt to use symbolic links ... I don't think that works. Let's try ... r...

Re: Problem with multiple cameras in ubuntu. Same pic in vid
Hi. Now the program shows the same picture in both monitors and the picture is very unclear and noisy. Ls /dev shows only video0 (not video1) and the picture is the same when I´m using video0 channel 1 or video1 channel 0 as a source. It's likely you will only HAVE /dev/video0 The cards like this u...

Re: No live monitor with ubuntu 13.10, socket_sendto error s
And now I have live streaming. Good to hear :) "I'm ruling out /dev/video0 as having anything to do with this. Because ZM is capturing the feed over HTTP, and not a locally-attached camera." Yes, that would also be true! I didn't pick up on the phrase "IP Camera" in your origina...

Re: Upgraded to 1.26.5 on Gentoo and cant get daemon to star
Gentoo, clears all the contents of /tmp at startup. I notice that ZM doesn't half leave a lot of cr@p lying about in /tmp/zm/ ... I wondered why space was getting tight on there :) 3Gb and growing. Is there some kind of "reaper" process that should be getting rid of old files that have be...

Re: No live monitor with ubuntu 13.10, socket_sendto error s
OK, I'm getting a bit of traction here. Part of the problem is a missing /dev/video0. When I plug in a webcam, it automatically creates /dev/video0. On Mint 13 /dev/video0 is created at boot, so it is always available. So I configure Zoneminder to use the webcam, and again there is no live view. Th...

Re: 8 channels BT878 card : max resolution issue
Hi, i increased the shared memory, and now i'm able to view 2 cam at 640*480, 20fps each one. The image quality is poor, when i move something in front of the camera i can some rows like there was interlacing problem. Is there any specific option to fix this ? P.S: I also tried succesfully to view ...

Re: /zm/Logs is marked as crashed and last repair failed
A google search suggested I type into mysql " USE zm; REPAIR TABLE Events; card=23 for bt787" but this did not work. I'd hold off typing any more random SQL statements until someone here addresses YOUR problem. I know too little about the internals of ZM to comment further, but YOU have a...

Re: 8 channels BT878 card : max resolution issue
I think that resolution limit is something to do with interlacing vs non interlacing images. The BT878 has 2 capture engines. For interlaced pictures, each engine does odd (or even) fields of the frame. While one is capturing, the other is offloading to system memory. That's for resolutions over (I ...

Re: Automatically Generate video on EVERY event - zmvideo.pl
When I was trying to get videos in one constant location, it didn't occur to me to find the videos and then link them! In the end I went with this, under "options:Images" for the FFMPEG OPTIONS string -r 25 -q:v 1 -f avi -vtag XVID -g 30 -bf 2 -vf "hqdn3d,lutyuv=y=gammaval(1.4),unshar...

Re: Intermittent Blue Screen in Live View
Ah, that could do it. Well, two words of advice. "Wired network" :) Other than that, you are looking at "tweaking things" and forever being at the mercy of other people's WIFI stomping on yours ... Have you worked out how much bandwidth your cameras (and other wireless items) are...

Re: No Live View after Installation
Is there a command to automatically start zoneminder so I don't have to click on the link in the GUI? Yes, depends on your particular system though. On mine (Slackware), the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local starts up stuff that needs doing on boot. At the tail end ... I have ... # # Start ZoneMinder # # Get...
