Re: Linux Mint LMDE 5 Elsie Debian
There are instructions in the WIKI for Buster and Bullseye. Use the one your version of Mint is based on. Actually you will be better off with Bullseye with no GUI and ZM 1.36.

Re: High Swap Memory Use
Please can anyone help and advise why my ZoneMinder installation increases its use of swap memory over time making the server and the application slow. I have summarised my installation details below. version 1.36.13 Installed memory 4GB 3 cameras 5 Monitors in total 3 monitors at 640 x 480 1 zone ...

Re: Upgrade from 1.34 to 1.36 on Debian broke ZM
What version of Debian? Where did you install ZM 1.34 from? The Debian repo or the zmrepo? Did you do the upgrade from the zmrepo? What hardware is ZM running on? I can set up a test machine and try to duplicate your effort. Something else you might try is to save a backup of the ZM database, wipe t...

Re: Second monitor keeps crashing
Check the database to make sure it has sufficient resources. Install mysqltuner and run it as root. Look for sufficient innodb_buffer_pool_size to start.

Re: Can't install on Ubuntu 20.04
If you use MySQL there may be some issues. I recommend Mariadb. Use: sudo apt install apache2 php mariadb-server php-mysql libapache2-mod-php

You should be able to do that if you can view the streams in a web browser or VLC.

Re: Issue with Memory allocation failed error
Hi, I'm using Zoneminder for several years with the same camera setup without issues. This summer I upgraded from 1.34 to 1.36.5. After update I thought everything works fine, but now I ca see that some events have no end-time and in syslog I see often entries like Nov 14 13:47:17 pi4b-2 zmc_m1[762...

Re: No RTSP sources.
You need to upgrade the database after importing it: zmupdate.pl This may not work unless you took a dump, backup, of the old zm database before you wiped the old install. Sorry but I have not kept up with the ready to go disk. The install from the WIKI is dead simple: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ub...

Re: New here, need advice..
@bbunge Correct me if I'm wrong This does sound like exactly what would do the trick, but sounds like it's taking the most liberties with security. Cameras pointing directly out through opened fw ports? Even ZM port forwarded is a risk of the same nature, because in both cases, you're opening a por...

Re: New here, need advice..
To add a bit to the prior post.. Each neighbor will need a router that does DDNS and port forwarding. The cams do not need to be the same but I would keep the frame rate to 5 FPS and a low resolution to minimize bandwidth use. The cams to be port forwarded through the router firewall. The NVR, Zonem...

Re: Zoneminder's homepage not rendering properly.
Zoneminder upgraded recently and today it won't open properly. The homepage isn't loading everything. It's version 1.36.7 running on Debian Buster. The server itself is not running and I cannot find any logs that say anything about what is going on. No errors anywhere. I've tried reinstalling it as...

Re: Clean Debian 10 install
I Had that on mine, fresh install, kept repeating those same restart scheduled errors. Turns out you need to install sudo, there's a zm process watcher that tries to check for a running process via sudo. Installed, reboot, tickety boo now. Cheers Interesting... Installing sudo is something I do on ...

Re: Possible to upgrade from 1.30.4?
Hello, I tried to upgrade but it had some error during the conversion of the db (sorry I should have taken a photo but was doing three things at once). But I did end up also upgrading the server to Ubuntu Server 12.04 from the old LTS as well as switching from mysqld to mariadb so quite a bit was d...
