Damn shame. The guy doing the debian maint seems to have moved on elsewhere - I dropped him a line last year after 1.25 and he responded but said was busy.
Guess unless somebody takes it on we'll be back to compiling the silly thing in future

Re: A few question on Zoneminder
1) Try adjusting using one of the presets in the zone settings.
2) No idea. May be an ffmpeg / MPEG4 issue. Can you try with a jpg or mjpeg feed?
3) Web console: Options, Config: CREATE_ANALYSIS_IMAGES = Ticked

Re: Detecting flying birds
Either of those ideas sound quicker than an image processing one. Good luck, and if it works out it'd be great to hear what did and how!

Re: Detecting flying birds
A fascinating idea! I have several ip cameras that catch and trigger on birds flying in front of them - entrances to barns etc and usually Swallows this time of year, which are very fast. Zoneminder will catch them, but not with 100% effectiveness, and you need a high contrast background and fairly ...

Yep, exactly that, and no you don't need to install anything else. It adds some load, of course, but it can solve a problem.

Re: Zoneminder on system A. Can i use a webcam attached to p
Yes. Various ways. Install something that provides web accessible jpgs or an mjpeg stream on PC A. Install zoneminder on PC A as well, set up the webcam as a monitor, and use the live feed mjpeg as a feed for PC B. Eg: host: PC A's IP path: /cgi-bin/nph-zms?mode=jpeg&monitor=1&scale=100&...

Yeah, both of those I bought back then are still running ok 24/7.
Not sure what you mean about alarm, that's all handled by zoneminder. The camera just provides jpgs one after the other.,

Re: Prefered "flavor" of Linux?
Unless zm has been removed from ubuntu, it's probably that you don't have the right repositories enabled. Ubuntu names them strangely but try looking in /etc/apt/sources.list and uncommenting any deb lines there are and do an apt-get update, or go through the package management software and enable a...

Re: Those of you are running 1.25, is it worth the upgrade?
Being a Debian owner, I'm still stuck with 1.24.2 packages, but they work fine. I'm familiar with most of the peculiarities by now and run several zm servers with quite a few ip cameras. I have tried building 1.25 on a sandbox debian server, but there were so many dependancy issues I gave up after a...

Remote Host Path snap.jpg?JpegSize=XL&JpegCam=1
Maybe try:
Remote Host Path: /snap.jpg?JpegSize=XL&JpegCam=1
With a / preceeding it?
Unusal dimensions, but could be correct.
Also note you'll probably need to fix the shared memory as per the wiki FAQ.
