The capture card scenario would use less resources for sure. You're off loading the work to the capture card. Software compression cards (Which are the only cards supported by Zoneminder) require the processor to do the work. Hardware compression cards (Which will not work with Zoneminder) do the e...

Re: Underwater PTZ camera
for my koi pond i'm looking for a underwater ptz camera. including nightvision and autofocus. Suggestions for DHZ are also welcome. My dad has a decent sized koi pond and we toyed with the idea of a camera but I really don't think it's worth spending the money, especially on a PTZ. You'll have all ...

One other note, I think the reason I forgot the divide by 8 is that the actual saved image is about 6.5Mbytes when I pause ZM, then do a save image as from Firefox A single JPEG image from the OD-600 is 120k (ish). I'm not sure where you are getting this 6.5Mb number. MJPEG is just a bunch of JPEG'...

Re: h234 topic hijacking
Has anyone had any luck outputting H264? I kept hearing that it's the latest, greatest codec, makes much smaller output files, brings you breakfast in bed, etc. But after trying a variety of output options to ffmpeg, the best I could come up with something that had the same quality as the normal qu...

Changing the logo is not considered very nice. If you want to add a logo, it is done in HTML in the web folder code. Also remember that Zoneminder is licensed GPL. It sounds like you could very well be working towards GPL violation(s) if you are trying to commercialize Zoneminder and not comply wit...

Re: Airlive OD-600HD PTZ control
The perl control extension did not work for some reason, so I made a little hack for alternative control script. Basically what Alex did was instead of creating a new perl module with the controls he made one PHP file that could have several controls built-in. Each control set is currently 10 lines...

I agree with mitch. If the DB does crash then repairing the stock zm database repairing / optimizing it can be a 5-30 minute deal, depending on data. If you had gigabytes of images you could be repairing it for hours, if not days. You might look at the gallery2 forum / FAQ lists to see why they do n...

Re: move zm to new system?
i'm upgrading my linux box from 32 to 64 bit software. i'm using a 1.23.x version of zoneminder with several cams and i'd like to move that installation over to the new system. is there a way to do this without a full reinstall/reconfigure? would it be as easy as copying over the files in my web tr...
