true, a 8-bit grayscale is considerable smaller than the 24-bit rgb. Try playing with the others too, if the card supports them you may experience better results.

Since you connected an analog camera, the color modes don't really affect it. Actually, these modes can be used to pull encoded frames from the capture card. Some cards/devices support only certain modes, this is why the options. I suppose RGB24 would be good enough if it works.

After some googling I understood that it's because of my Nvidia driver's lack of some acceleration... If i run that in a VNC session, the error does not appear, however no picture just a white box - but that's the same for the bt878 card.

Perhaps this one is also worth to...

It's enough. The " shared memory not valid" with a usb cam in my experience usually means the resolution or palette selected is not valid for this camera. Thanks. I tried all the acceptable resolutions (320x240, 384x288, 640x480, etc.) and all the available palettes - no success. It's a N...

Hm, well, the LiveCD right after installation came with one camera preconfigured at /dev/video0. Since in the dmesg result i saw that the device was configured at /dev/video0, I would have expected to see something, the cam's config is nothing special that the webcam wouldn't support. Anyway, thanks...

Hi! Any news about this Edimax model?

I have the Edimax IC-1500, which is the same as Wg, except it doesn't have the Wireless port, it has only a wired 10/100 port. The rest is the same - help to connect this one to the system would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
