Of course the movement will lag... 0.25 fps... Thats extremely time lapsed. Try 1fps and no frame skip for smoother (all be it still really time lapsed) movement.

Patch in the OP wont apply for me now. So I went into zm_event.cpp and used search and replace.

This has solved the issue which cropped up for me after 1.23 release.
