It's probably here. Please don't forget my question above.
Instead of a striped raid i'd better go for separate drives and spread the i/o streams accordingly.

Re: time lapse?
I couldnt figure out how to make it work. Go to 'Defining Monitors' and set all three fps fields to '0.1' (i guess 10secs is a better start for testing) and don't use pass-through mode. https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/latest/userguide/definemonitor.html#monitor-tab Then use 'record' mode to re...

How does 'Alarm Color' work?
I have defined different colors to my zones (Alarm Colour (Red/Green/Blue)) but they neither change their border color/pattern nor do they get highlighted in that color in the video player seek bar (that's the actual reason i want a different color). The color is always red. Is it intended for somet...

Re: time lapse?
What's wrong with iconnor's advice? Seems much easier (if it works).
I personally use an external bash script with snapshot url (independent from ZM).

Please post this outputs:

Re: Noob needs help with possible documentation update
The quintessence is to use a separate drive/partition. How you actually do it is up to you. 'systemd' is just an optional recommendation. It's very flexible and powerful and maybe not the best recommendation for beginners indeed.

Re: 'Events/Show Timeline' - Working properly for anyone?
I've flushed all events in the meantime, created some forced alarms and all timeline page hits are working. I cannot reproduce the bug atm. There is still a chance that it occurs only at a much more crowded event list. I will keep the list growing. Ccurrent (working) url: http://192.168.2.1/zm/?view...

Re: New install on Ubuntu 16.04, service only partially starts?
I would start by looking up /etc/init.d/zoneminder to see where these lines are generated and why the PID owners do not match. Mar 07 15:37:07 snarfbuntu systemd[1]: zoneminder.service: New main PID 6664 does not belong to service, and PID file is not owned by root. Refusing. Mar 07 15:37:07 snarfbu...

'Events/Show Timeline' - Working properly for anyone?
'Show Timeline' works partially here. Sometimes it just gives a white screen with this logs: 03/07/20 23:06:09.127295 web_php[17104].ERR [192.168.1.9] [SQL-ERR 'SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your Ma...

I've done that already (with 100 frames). I will try some extreme values next.

Re: Event Duration
Yes, but did you ever get below 7 seconds or did you ever have had a 1 second clip?
I'm not sure if the buffers settings are involved here as well but if you lower MinSectionlength you clearly get shorter clips.

Re: Browser live view - Quality switching
Solution: I have defined Misc/Default Scale to 1/2x so when i initially open the liveview the picture is 50% downscaled and Zoneminder does a good job here by reducing the image quality correspondingly. When i manually switch to 100% the downscaled picture gets upscaled as its still the same stream....

Re: Event Duration
This is the solution for the 8 seconds bug. Just lower it.
