We tried... Zoneminder needs quite a bit of babysitting. 1) Table Frames is corrupted... This happens every reboot, it seams. All the time anyway, and it needs intervention to fix. 2) Config is non-trivial. 3) There is no automatic screen. Customers want to turn it on and see pictures without doing ...

For anyone that searches for this, I did not "Give Up." I just withdrew the cash when it was withdrawn from me. :) I am still watching. Not as often as I used to, but still watching.

The slashdot story brought me back. I was in discussions juts last month with someone over paid support, and they required an SLA. I could not easily meet it by my self. However, several of us could... If we want to actually take paid support to the next level, I can help. I even have access to a 24...

It sounds like you have some system problems. The synaptic error should not happen. And with sudo, you should be able to modify sources.

What system are you running? (Jaunty? Edgy? What?)

What have you changed?

I am sorry, but I have to withdraw our bounty. In the time that has passed, a closed source solution presented itself. I hate it, but the customers do not. So a business decision was made, and that is our preferred solution right now. Personally, I will still be involved with ZM, and will pitch it b...

The first things that come to mind are a timing problem from a non-intel chipset, or chip overheating on the card. Heat sinks will fix the one. If you can not go Intel, try turing off everything you can in the BIOS. (Printer, USB...) Then reset ESCD.

Cool! You should be able to do some creative cron work, or script magic to have it not capture during specified hours, or capture much slower to make the nights flash by.

I have 2ghz P4s with 2 gig of ram doing better with 4 analog cameras. Yes, go to 4 gig, and bump your shared memory. It is cheap.

Try with a web browser first to narrow down the problem.

The bttv limitation is 16. Tried and tested by me. :) Those chips can be split 4 ways, so that can be 64 cameras, and 3-5fps. Or 32 cameras at 10-12fps.

The saa chips can use a different driver, and I do not know the limit there. Network attached cameras are no limit.

how much of a donation do you need to implement - "True" H.264? Because it has better quality/sharpness then ffmpeg - Record with Audio? - Export video without audio? Total Donation and ETA? Be gentle as the economy is SUPER tuff... You need to break this up... You will never get one guy ...

The directory does not have execute permission for the php file, so it is loading it, not running it. This is an apache config issue.

It depends on how you have your proxy and bridging set up. It is a complex solution if you need to keep it all on one box.
