Re: GPIO control and triggers

This is kinda why it dosen't exist it would require a kernel driver as well it being very non standard between cards. A better bet would be to use zmtrigger and a serial device.

Waste of time is my thought. :)
Sorry but when you can get a server with a 500gb drive for $60-70 bucks. The free option is just not worth it.

Re: Any chance I can use this Hardware?

You shoudl be fine if my pentum 3 @ 600mhz can do motion detect on 2 640x480 8fps cctv camers i am sure almost any hardware can do it. Just make sure to set frame skip in the monitor setup page makes motion detect run on every other 5th etc frame rather than every one.

Re: zm -good enough for proffesional use ??

Simple reason is most users buy a cheap anolog capture card. Where 1 30fps captre is shared between cams. Ex 2 cameras on a 30fps card gives around 8fps and it drastically goes down from there. I run mine on a slitley better techwell based card at 10fps for one simple reason cost. That and 10fps is ...

Re: how to achieve high quality streaming?

Can it, Yes. Is it efficient well no. Simple enable mpeg streaming and turn up bit rate in High Bandwidth tab. As well has a FPS of 10-25 on the camera itself.

Re: Current recomendations for a PoE IP camera?

Yeah basically avoid anything with built in ir. Even my ultrateck anolog cameras (auto iris) i got for nothing work better at night than most of thous. Axis 216FD is the one I like as its very versatile. Can go outside as long as its not fully exposed. But in general if you want good and consistent ...

Re: Input Wanted: ZoneMinder to drive a Finish Line Camera

If the camera is setup and car see the number it should not be a problem. As ZM also records warm up frames aka pre-event. So a delay would not be a real issuse. Also the notes field would be very effective for this as you could put something in there like car 123. Then search DB with filter later f...

Re: Is Zone Minder appropriate for a 30+ camera installation

I don't think it would be a problem as long as you keep in reasonable 10fps or less. With minimal or no motion detection. Also if useing motion detect make sure to set the skip_frame parameters in camera setup. EX: skipframe 5 would check for motion twice a second running at 10fps rather than 10 tim...

There is always the black tape or paint option :).

You could also see if you can make a patch for zmc. The svn is available.

Re: Anyone using lighttpd instead of apache2?

IN my experance on a dedicated (non zm ) server lightpd shows some improvement but it is nothing compared to a server called NginX.

Nginx uses like 5mb on a heavily loaded site try that with apache or lightpd. And it is rock solid.
