Re: 3 * HikVision 4MP cameras taking too much CPU

I've got an i5 3470, 12GB RAM, ZM 1.3 and 16.04. Four x 3MP cameras and one 720 camera. Less powerful computer, similar camera load. CPU averages about 25% - 30%. The 720 camera monitors a static scene at only 2FPS, so I'll leave it out of the discussion. The four other cameras are streaming 3MP (20...

Re: New install, motion detection not reliable

I'd found that many of the ZoneMinder presets for motion were too 'squelched' to be effective in my case. My first ZM system was one I had to install at a remote site in a day and then leave. All cameras were looking outward from the main building. A few days later I was wondering why I hardly getti...

Re: Preclusive on one camera applied to a second?

Hmmm... A well-tailored filter might clean things up post-event. I'll have to explore that a little more. I have a series of filters that gradually delete the low count alarm frame events over a couple of weeks. This works, however doesn't help when reviewing the previous day's recordings. This isn'...

Preclusive on one camera applied to a second?

I know it's possible to have one zone on a camera trigger recording on a second camera. I use this feature and it's great. Is it possible to have a preclusive zone on a particular monitor prevent recording on a different monitor? I have HOURS of recordings of snow flurries lit up by the IR LEDs on t...

Re: Ignore offline camera(s)

Thanks guys - good to know the fix is coming. As for run states - that's something I've yet to explore, but looks promising. I'm thinking I could change motion sensitivity to stop snow flurries lit up by IR LEDs from clogging the HDD in the winter nights. ...and changing state based on your cell pho...

Ignore offline camera(s)

I'm aware of the known issue where ZoneMinder doesn't do well with a camera that is offline. CPU usage increases, log file gets flooded, etc. Is there a way around this? My end goal would be to have the existing exterior (outdoor) cameras along with a few interior ones. When leaving the house, I'd t...
