Setup basics questions
I'm using the ZMLarch build for 1.24.2 and trying to learn the best way to set it up. The servers are dual 3.2GHz XEON, 4GB, with a single 1.5TB drive. Again, I'm not real familiar with the "proper" way to set up a system. The first system was set up more or less blind--I had just a very b...

Not silly questions at all. The wiki also has a lot of info. 3) MPEG4 is the newer standard amongst IP camera manufacturers, and on the cheaper end is often the only option available. It was added to zm purely to support such cameras. If your camera can support jpg/mjpeg you may well get better per...

General help for a noob
After working with ZM for a few weeks (I admit I’m not a Linux guru) I have decided to ask some questions at the risk of being redundant. It seems that most people would have very similar questions, but I do not see a general FAQ that might help many of us who are unfamiliar with specifics of gene...

stop disk checking?
Is there any way to stop the automatic disk check during boot on the ZMLive DVD distro? I figure there must be something I need to add to the menu.lst file for grub. I'm not planning to have have a monitor/kb on these servers and if it checks the disks every time at boot, it will take forever to loa...

Which distro to use?
I've been playing around with ZMLARCH and it seems to work well. I've had a few instances where the browser seems to stop responding or the page won't refresh, I guess I should say. Then, I seen someone else post about the same thing, so now I'm hesitant to use it in a live environment. I did see a ...

It doesn't matter if you also transfer the event data. Just run zmaudit.pl once you've done the restore and it will then clean everything up. So I take this to mean I can do a backup/restore using the Windows MySQL Admin utility and then just run zmaudit.pl to clean up the aftermath from not moving...

Disk Space used per camera?
Is there an easy way to tell how much disk space each camera is using?

Backup/Restore Config Only
I have a system that I want to move to another box and I don't really care about the event data, I just want to move the configuration so I don't have to set up each individual camera again. Is the configuration data only stored in the MySQL database? I don't really want to mess with the scripts and...

Mine was never that bad, but I did see artifacts that looked like slow response. Here is what I did, I added a 2nd Gigabit NIC card to the ZM box, the cams all talk to the ZM box on that NIC the primary NIC is used for network access. I put all of the cams on a gigabit switch, though the cams are o...

Re: Taking Periodic Still Images With ZoneMinder
I've got ZoneMinder up and running with one camera at the moment with two zones in motion detect mode. I'd like to have it take a picture every 5 or 10 minutes and put it someplace that I can grab or link to. I'd prefer it overwrote the same picture each time but if not that's ok, can ZoneMinder be...

Something to add is i know zoneminder is successfully logging into the camera as viewing the camera's log lists the ZM IP address as successfully logging in as ADMIN every 20 seconds or so. It must be a bit complicated finding the stream? i've tried several versions of /videostream.cgi and /videost...
