Foscam FI8904W - any good?

Looking at this as a way to upgrade my analog camera to IP, and a better resolution. Foscam FI8904W It would appear that this works with ZM, but there seems to be some variation in comments on quality, framerates and blurry images at night. There are also some fakes about, which wont help with getti...

Outdoor IP camera recommendation

I'm looking to replace my old analog camera with a hard wired IP camera. There seem to be quite a few on amazon/ebay, but what do I need to be looking at for compatibility with ZM. Also, my setup will be about 5m to the edge of the drive, where it will need to cover a width of about 7m minimum. Any ...

Running zoneminder in VirtualBox

Has anyone had any luck running zoneminder in VirtualBox under Windows? Especially with one of the older bttv 848 PCI capture cards? At the moment I have a separate linux cctv box which runs 24/7, and a windows box that I switch on and off as and when required. I now have a need to leave the windows...

Re: Automatically Set States via Tasker for Android

If you can get the last bits (from the wiki) working you could 2 create shell scripts in cgi-bin, and call them through Apache?

Re: Merging all videos into 1 video...

This isn't going to answer your original question, but going back to the sun issue..... I had this also. The actual time of alarm state caused by this change is very small. You could try filtering on all events under .5 second, and delete them? This may (or may not) leave you with a sensible set of ...

Re: Zoneminder and Mythtv web access

Look up apache virtual hosting.
I do this myself, and have got it working on ubuntu.
If you can't work it out, I'll dig out my config files.
I suggest you make a backup of /etc/apache2 or whatever it is called before tinkering.

Re: Path for Chinese IP cameras?

Thanks. Will have to give it some thought as to whether I can get it under some cover.
They look good though - nothing else I've seen for near that money.

Re: Path for Chinese IP cameras?

I'm after replacing an analog camera with a higher resolution one, but have always been put off by the price.

These look good though. I dont suppose either of you could post a few pics of their night vision could you?
Also, are they weatherproof, as it will have to go outside?
Thanks

Re: ffmpeg setup

Thanks. That looks useful, especially the install guide. I'll get the configure options from the ubuntu package, nuke it, then start again using that config. From experience, do you know what revisions work with which versions of zm? And is it normal to get the errors about lib****.h required for MP...

ffmpeg setup

I was hoping someone could explain how the ffmpeg installation works, in respect of building from source, on ubuntu. Time and time again people are hitting problems with different versions of ffmpeg, and upgrades to distros breaking things. What I'd like to do is have a seperate install of ffmpeg ju...

Re: Adding multiple monitors breaks zma/zmc

Sorry for the delay in testing.
Just done a new install and can confirm this works.

Fantastic stuff. Many thanks for you help on this.

Is there a process for getting this rolled into any future releases?

Re: Adding multiple monitors breaks zma/zmc

That's brilliant news, it would be great to get on latest version.
I don't have a 1.24 install to test with, but will endeavour to get one setup in the next few days and report back.

Thanks very much for this - much appreciated.

Re: Unable to export video

I dunno. Looks like perl grabs it from this line, but I dont know perl. my $event_path = getEventPath( $event ); chdir( $event_path ); It is stored in /usr/local/etc/zm.conf - could be from there? I can't see it in DB, but may be wrong. If that still doesn't work, you could comment this: my $event_p...

Re: Unable to export video

I wonder if it needs to be run from inside your event folder.
Try cd'ing to the event folder and running the zmvideo/ffmpef command from inside there. Is it possible yur events folder could be wrong within your zm database config?
