Re: odd permission required on /dev/video0

Thanks for the replies. I 'm not much of a wiz on linux. I did "getent group" and for video it returned. video:x:44:www-data,keith Now, if I change the owner to keith, I still get the video stream now that it's started but I also get the permission denied as it is trying to select the form...

Re: Enable/disable monitor via script

That's great, Thank you.

I guess that html post is what happens when we change the settings on the monitor settings pages. So the same mechanism could be used to change anything?

Enable/disable monitor via script

Hi doc says "...camera to be enabled or disabled by external triggers or scripts." I have seen mention of x10 enabling monitors. Is this the only way or is there some way I can enable/disable monitors using Python? When I say enable disable I really mean enable/disable motion detection as ...

Re: 878 capture card setup - card not detected

just to close this if anyone is interested.
I could not get it to work. Not sure if it a Ubuntu23.04 issue or card issue but having spend some time on it, it's not really worth the effort. Especially as I just bought some ONVIF 2k cameras that seem to work well with ZM for £20 each.

Re: webcam fails to startup after PC restart

Just to close this issue.
I resolved it by changing the Capture Pallet from Auto to a non auto setting YUV. Not sure what YUV it was but avoiding the auto setting fixed the startup issue. Now both local webcams startup every time. Happy days.

Re: X10 serial output

Thanks iconnor yes good idea I can just run my own python. I can do that by the "execute command on match" filter, right? So now I'm thinking - Can I set up different zones and pass some info that would indicate the zone that alarmed? **** Edit - yes I found it "filter on Alarmed Zone...

webcam fails to startup after PC restart

Hi I have a local webcam and when setup it works great. However, if the PC restarts the webcam does not work, I get the following message in the log. If I run Cheese it shows an image ok. I did a search through the forum and there have been similar errors but not a solution. Thanks --log 8/14/23, 8:...

X10 serial output

Hi I'm still at the start of a steep learning curve to ZM, so just need a pointer to the approach to take. I want to get some serial notification of events from the RS232 com port and X10 parts of ZM say it sends stuff out on events which I could then interpret. My question is "Instead of using...

Re: play event mp4

I notice that when setting to h264 it is not actually saving video but a lot of jpeg files. I have the storage Save JPEGs disabled. I only get video files when set to auto and they are mp4 but if I set the codec in the event playback to MJPEG it will play it once and after that it will not play gain...

Re: play event mp4

I had the settings set to auto in the Monitor Storage tab. I assumed that mp4 is the format of the stream but I suppose recoding is only a small processor hit as it is only saving on each alert. I changed outputcodec to h264 if I select encoder as : libx264 - I get a blank event playback. h264 and t...

play event mp4

Apologies if this is a daft question but in the documentation under viewing events there is mp4 playback shown. My event is also an mp4 file but I have "The video could not be loaded, ... format is not supported". I have v1.36.32 installed on ubuntu 23.04. How do I get the MP4 to play when...

878 capture card setup - card not detected

Hi Apologies for what maybe a subject that has been visited before but I can't find much info. I have a newly built ubuntu 23.04 PC with an 878 type capture card from ebay which I was hoping to use with some existing cameras I have. However I can't get the capture card working. Is this approach a lo...
