Please note I did not read your changes but based on your comment maybe you would want to start with something smaller at first.
Not sure what you mean by smaller. This thread isn't meant as a side-channel for patch submission, it's a JFYI.
I'm very well aware of the standard GitHub PR process.

Re: ZoneMinder::Control::Reolink refactoring

Next iteration. I shall - however - deep dive into ZoneMinder::ONVIF and therefore the ONVIF::Client rabbit hole. Maybe even most of this code will not be necessary anymore. Reolink claims their cams do support ONVIF 2.1 and I would think the right way to do things would be some nice GetCapabilities...

ZoneMinder::Control::Reolink refactoring

I took the liberty of a first stab at the source - see attachment. It shall be deemed work-in-progress because it is neither finished, nor sufficiently tested (beyond a perl -c) yet. It seems, that compared with the other Control modules the Reolink code is at technical debt level 9000. :wink: For n...

Re: Features in 1.35.*

I start feeling the urge to clean up some Perl mess.

What is the minimum required Perl version for ZoneMinder 1.35.* ?

Debian Jessie has 5.20 - released 2014 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perl_5_version_history)
Surely one could consider that a minimum requirement? Yes?

ZoneMinder LLC

I'd like to ask about the community/corporate organization of ZoneMinder. In the source, I'm seeing Copyright (C) 2020 ZoneMinder LLC. On the webpage, under contact (https://zoneminder.com/contact/), there is no mention of such. Does such a thing exist? If so, where is the place of business/registry...

Re: New User testing, lots of crashes

Meybe start by reducing your resolution, framerate, and analysis rate greatly. reduce the size of your zones. I am new here and that has helped me a lot. That is not optimization, that is making concessions. And yes, the time for that may come, but not yet. Indeed, I can tweak the amount of SHM the...

Bug in camera password handling

So I gave my cameras the user "admin" and the password "Argus5+++". I can say, because I can't use that password anyway. When entering this password in the ZM monitor setup, the camera could not be connected. So editing the monitor and opening the form ("Source tab") revealed: rtsp://admin:Argu5 @<I...

Re: New User testing, lots of crashes

Thanks for your feedback. @jperkins: I bought the RLC-410 5MP camera, because it got a fairly decent review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZJX8CKR5KI I also am using ZoneMinder despite it being only "2nd"(?) in this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Q5bZxlUhPs - mostly because I am a ...

New User testing, lots of crashes

Hi there. Long time Linux user, open source enthusiast and Perl guy trying to get a grip on a surveillance system for my home. I don't really expect any help/support, just wanted to report what happens if a ZM newbie (but otherwise hopefully not totally incompetent) makes first encounters. Maybe som...
