I'm having this exact same problem, I installed the app from the store and I get the same logging up until the FCM token is supposed to set. I have tried absolutely everything. I did have all this working before, I had set it up on a old RaspberryPi and I then bought a new one and freshly installed ...

I'm having the same problem but I have yet to resolve it. I think the problem is because its not using SSL. I think android had enforced usage of HTTPS at some stage and maybe this has something to do with it.
