Re: Ring begone, zonemider FTW!

Is there a good replacement for Ring which has the same features, but without the Amazon connected cloud?

Re: Odd behavior

Ok, so i used a different browser and saw the slider and FF buttons working now.

The culprit seems to have been an addon for Firefox called Privacy Possum which removes some of the common tracking headers

Odd behavior

1.29.0 Yeah, i know - old version! I really should upgrade - and I think I will - but it may take me some time. Monitors are working OK - modect working OK - only problem is that when I view an event, i can't fast forward, or use the slider to jump to a specific part of the video. Also - there are N...

Cool thanks for the response. I presume if you want audio, you have to do mp4?

Performance hit going from 1.29 to 1.32?

I'm on 1.29 still - my needs are simple - I don't feel as i'm missing anything by not upgrading - BUT - sound recording does appeal - and if I were to upgrade to 1.32 - would I see a performance hit due to new features? I looked in the release notes and it mentions an mp4 container. Does this mean i...

Re: Modect-Nodect slow to start linked recordings

I'm no expert by any means - but perhaps the logs from around the events may help.

Re: Best CPU solution

I run it in a VM. 5 cameras, but fairly low resolution - 640x480. All running in modect (motion detection) at between 5-10fps. If you have higher resolution - you may need more horsepower, but there is no reason why you can't piggyback ZM on the back of an existing server in a VM. Here are my VM spe...

Blue screen after reboot/reset of RTSP/ONVIF camera

I installed a new RTSP camera - a wanscam hw0029. Works fine - works great, except after I reboot it, sometimes ZM doesn't seem to re-connect to the stream and gives a blue screen. I can resolve this quite easily by disabling and re-enabling the camera under the function menu and un-checking 'enable...

Re: Reliable, inexpensive, compact wifi IP camera?

I found something - the Wanscam HW0026.

Nice little camera and ticks all the boxes. Web interface (though you need a smartphone to get it configure initially), wifi, 1028x768 or 640x352. ONVIF support, and relatively cheap - about £15 delivered.

Early days, but so far seems stable.

Reliable, inexpensive, compact wifi IP camera?

Ok, i'm asking for a lot :) Does it exist? I'd like something Wifi Compact - i.e can be mounted flat on a wall, Inexpensive - say under $50/£40 At the moment i've got some old-school IP cams which do http/mjpeg streaming and they are pretty reliable, but nobody seems to do this any more. It is all P...

I got this working with the instructions above. You have to have the vlc package installed.

Re: Banana Pi suitability for ZM? or other micro computer?

I'm looking at something similar. I think the issue with RPI is the storage I/O. If you put the DB on another machine, it is probably OK - but that kind of defeats the point in my mind. I'm thinking that a fan-less x86 compatible machine might be better, but that is not necessarily low power, nor in...

Re: Any thought on using the 'motion' engine for detection?

Sure, just a bit more configurable and fine tuneable in motion.

Is there a roadmap for the next major version of zm?

Any thought on using the 'motion' engine for detection?

The software has been around for a long long time - but it is totally driven from a config file - no GUI like ZM has. http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome It has some very very powerful and nifty features which help with false positives though. IN particular the despeckle which you ...
