documentation issue...

I just did a new install of 18.04LTS Ubuntu and proceeded to use the Zoneminder documentation to install ZM, and there is a minor issue. The changes that are suggested for mysql come *before* the install of ZM, so in bare Ubuntu 18.04, there is no mysql, so none of those commands work. On this page ...

Trump admin may ban some brands of cameras...

From Slashdot this AM: An anonymous reader quotes a report from CNBC: The U.S. administration is considering limits to Chinese video surveillance firm Hikvision's ability to buy U.S. technology , the New York Times reported on Tuesday, in a move that deepens worries about trade frictions between the...

User issue

Why does a user set to "view" monitors get the ability to create a new monitor? Shouldnt the "add new monitor" be unlinked (not clickable)?

This same user is precluded from the "montage review" link....why?

Re: 30+ cameras

Should the SQL perhaps be on a separate machine?

I guess it depends on how much user interaction is expected, and whether or not any motion detection/alerting etc.

Re: Change Running state via URL

The API supports this but not using username and PW, have to do auth using something like CURL. See https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/st ... state-apis and https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/st ... i-security

Re: onmousedown and onmouseup implementation in control scripts

I think on mobile it uses a different action called ontouch The handheld controls appears to be a fairly easy fix. Everywhere there is a "onmousedown" there needs to be also a "ontouchstart", and everywhere there is a "onmouseup" there needs to be also a "ontouchend". So, for example, in the CSS fo...

Re: New Amcrest firmware breaks PTZ

So I will answer my own question. Basically, I am stupid. I had the wrong value in the "control device" field which TCG setup to be the device serial number. Fixed that, and all is right with the world again....

Re: New Amcrest firmware breaks PTZ

So I installed a new Amcrest IP2M-853EW purchased a few weeks ago on my NW. I basically copied the existing working monitor from the IP2M-853EW camera purchased and installed last fall (2018). The new camera video works, but the ZM PTZ control fails with following in the ZM log: Camera control comma...

Re: Suitable hardware ?

Ideally I'd like a way of sending an sms if power is lost (my alarm system has this function) Nearly any system that can send email can send SMS. All of the major vendors of SMS services have email gateways - Verizon's for example, is 10-digit-phone-number@vtext.com If you use another service, try ...

Re: New Amcrest firmware breaks PTZ

However, due to the disaster of Amcrest support, the company I work for has returned all of the Amcrest equipment, and we're going back with Dahua which we have verified that we can get good, solid US based support for. Chris Might want to suggest that the company you work for do a bit of research ...

Re: Instant notification on alarm + machine learning object detection

Sure, I'd be honored! What did you have in mind, though, integrating it into ZoneMinder itself in some way, or as a separate script the way it is now? I would like for it to be a maintained part of Zoneminder which could be enabled or disabled as desired. In many installs, I believe that the Zonemi...

Re: Instant notification on alarm

The code is here - feel free to give it a try if so inclined: https://github.com/montagdude/zoneminder-notifier I am looking at your zoneminder-notifier. I would like very much to implement it on my ZM install. I have a some questions.... 1 - The readme says "ZoneMinder with API enabled (tested wit...

Re: problem with camera switching back and forth to night vision

Another option is a hardware motion detector using ZMTrigger and setting the camera to nodect, but this requires more install time. (Link: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/ZMTrigger.) This is where I have gone. The ZM motion detection based on video analysis is, in my experience, simply too false-alarmy...

Re: New Amcrest firmware breaks PTZ

When working with the PHP controls code I ran into some of these issues, but all of mine were the result of my control script having something like "Downright" when the CSS displayed used "DownRight" as the action.
