Re: ZM dropping cameras

In my experience, cameras dropping out appear to be brand dependent.

What brand of cameras do you have?

Re: Another "Error while decoding frame 0"

Here's a few things to try: Change from Remote to FFMPEG Change from Remote to LibVLC. If you don't have LibVLC search around for instructions. This might help: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Welcome?title=Special%3ASearch&search=libvlc&go=Go See if mplayer can view the video. ($ mplayer rtsp://<ip>:55...

Re: ZM Video Sluggish

To be clear, it was the faulty HDD not the VM that was causing the failure of H264 passthrough. It worked in the VM before the HDD failed, though the virtualization (and doing other things on the server at the same time) might've caused the HDD to fail faster.

Re: Sports recording setup (3 cameras)

Perhaps my initial explanation was a bit confusing here - by 50-80m distance I thought the distance from the cams to the central point (router/PC). That distance is only limited by whichever POE spec your equipment is rated for. I would recommend you use the real POE - the 802.3af - not the passive...

Re: ZM Video Sluggish

There are a few things to consider. in my experience. What type of camera are you using? One: Try h264 passthrough. As an example, I have an Amovision camera. On 1.30.4, with RTSP, it gets about 5 FPS. With 1.32 and h264 passthrough I can get 25FPS. Although after a HDD error, and running it through...

Re: Email fails to send 'Must issue a STARTTLS command first'

If it is working from the command line then it should work in ZM, just a configuration error somewhere. In my experience, when this occurs, its because either the checkbox in zm options for new mail module isn't checked, or /etc/ssmtp/revaliases isn't filled out correctly. it tries to send as the wr...

Re: Sports recording setup (3 cameras)

As our sports hall is not the smallest one and the distances from cameras to the recording PC will be around 50-80 meters I'm considering using IP cams with PoE. Make sure to get the correct zoom for the 50-80 meters distance. Either Variable zoom, 2.8mm or 4mm would be a place to start. The only t...

See more configuration tips in
https://wiki.zoneminder.com/SMS_Notifications

You need to configure ssmtp for your email server first. Not an issue with ZM.

No need for USB, you can have an IP video encoder on the same network.

Re: What is the likely cause of pixellation?

What model of camera are you using? Has this always been an issue? The libraries vary between ZM releases, it's possible that 1.32+ will have different performance. I wouldn't jump to updating yet though. 1.30.4 is stable. What method are you using, Remote, FFMPEG? You can try LibVLC or something di...

I did some more testing, updated the Repo. I received better results with a different camera, and 1.32.3.

As a reference here's the entries for command line mysql/mariadb mysql -u root -p use zm; show tables; select * from Users\G update Users set Password = "" where Password = "OLDHASHEDPASSWORD"; (or if you just have admin user only) update Users set Password = ""; The idea is, blank the password out,...

Re: IP Camera Motion Detection

Where can I find documentation explaining how to write a script to trigger actions in ZM? There are two (maybe three) ways of doing this. 1) ZMTrigger 2) API ZMTrigger is a telnet daemon, so you'd simply interact with that via your script. It must be enabled, it's not on by default. See http://wiki...

Re: (newbie) zoneminder on raspberrypi

So a few things I wonder about. Did anyone ever run it on a raspberry with Centos 7.x installed? The wiki documents ARM SBCs here: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Single_Board_Computers You'll see there that the only documented use of the RPI is with Raspbian, so - Debian based distributions. You are w...

Re: AXIS Companion Dome V

It looks like the "companion series" has closed the MJPEG and RTSP urls.

Would also like to know how to connect via any means.

There is an outdoor companion cam for a reasonable price, but if it's not compatible with ZM, then I have to buy from other vendors...
