Re: "Blue Screen" issue

This has been addressed before. It boils down to this: Some types of cameras will occasionally drop out. Other brands are not affected. Developers are aware of the issue. You have a couple of options, including: upgrading to newer ZM, making a script via API that restarts lost cameras, using modect,...

Re: How to upgrade from 1.30 to 1.XX under Raspbian / Debian ?

In an RPI3, If you have Raspbian, you can change to the Debian repos and upgrade to experimental where ZM 1.32.2 is. I haven't done an upgrade from Raspbian, but export the DB and reimport it in, and it "should work". I do know that a fresh install works. Instructions can be found in https://wiki.zo...

Re: Errors 404 and missing pages

I have installed new ZM 1.32+ on Debian Stretch & Devuan Ascii, and there were no issues.

Sounds like it's related to only Debian Buster.

Re: Hikvision DS-2CD2442FWD-IW woes

Have you tried libVLC as a source type? Don't know how to install on Fedora, but the install guides on the wiki cover it for Debian, and you can adapt. It may already be included - not sure. Check the user manual for the camera, as well as Onvif. I found the user manual, and you can enable / disable...

Re: ability to rerun a video through detection process

One way to do this: Setup ffserver to serve up an RTSP stream of a video. Have ZM connect to the stream. Something like this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/37403282/is-there-anyone-who-can-success-real-time-streaming-with-ffserver You'll want to loop the video file - that might be another ffse...

Re: RSS Feed for Forum

Hm... This I do not know. I assume that it should be working as it's in the HTML of the page, and not omitted. It is viewable in my browser as an RSS feed option, but does not work. Let's compare to other sites with the same software. Transmission has the RSS feed - working. OSS has the RSS feed - w...

Re: Hardware specs for complete system build

I'll try to answer some of these questions... I would like to have some type of "Night vision on all of them", unless someone can convince me otherwise. Entirely up to you. If you have cameras that point at a light, you may not need IR. External IR is best. Keep in mind that there is a difference be...

Re: planning home area cover

How come whether a camera is compatible or not cannot be known for sure? I mean, depending on the technologies it supports, we should be able to figure out before we buy them. Maybe there are specs that are not mentioned in the user manuals? Onvif, is a good indicator of compatibility, but occasion...

Re: planning home area cover

My plan right now is to start with a cheap 2MP camera, test RTSP and h264 and all the rest on my laptop, run tests and then expand on the server and the amount of cameras. I am guessing... 4-5 cameras probably. Also following mikb's suggestion above I will budget for a UPS (and also a PoE switch, I...

See viewtopic.php?f=36&t=27141

for a software fix. Another option is a hardware motion detector using ZMTrigger and setting the camera to nodect, but this requires more install time. (Link: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/ZMTrigger.)

Raspbian Install + Benchmark

I tested out an RPI3 and wrote up some notes. An install process is in the writeup, as well as on https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Raspbian . Because I am not allowed to attach pdfs here it can be downloaded from https://git.steakelectronics.com/adminguy/ZM_Docs/src/branch/master/20181227_RPI3_Install_an...
