For my Foscam FI9821W that I had running in a virtual machine, I used libvlc but had problems simillar to what you describe. The problem ended after lowering the Bit rate to 512k in the camera settings. I kept the 720P resolution but lowered the Frame rate to 10. Maybe worth a try. Thanks, mythedof...

You didn't state your entire camera config, but based on the error I'd say you need to set your source type to "ffmpeg" and not "remote".

Have now got it working and recording with VLC Media Player, which suggests that it should work with ZoneMinder, but no joy yet.

Please could someone help, I have been struggling for a couple of months now, and still not got my first camera working. Thank you.

Have now got it working with VLC Media PLayer using:
But it refuses to record!

No joy with ZM, however.

Does the above suggest fundamental incompatibility with ZM, anybody please?

I have just bought the above, as my first ZM camera.

I am having no luck setting it up.

It would seem that ffmpeg is not available under Kubuntu 14.04.

Any ideas for a solution to this, please, anybody?

Has anybody got comment or experience of the Axis P5414-E.

Have now upgraded to Kubuntu 14.04, installed ZM from repository, and linked in apache2.

When I click "Add New Monitor", NOTHING HAPPENS!

But, in the javascript console I get:

TypeError: window.addEvent is not a function
