Sounds like a similar issue I hit with our Geovision cams... See ffmpeg<dot>org<slash>trac<slash>ffmpeg<slash>ticket<slash>285 (I had to break the url because I'm a new user and not allowed to post links) You are right to be suspicious of ffmpeg. Is it possible to record / store in h264 (or mpeg etc) rather than individual jpeg frames? I've just built out a ZM install with 5 high res Geovision cams.
