Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Server BT878A process crashes

Thank you very much for the useful information. Although the cameras were not the problem, your advice helped me led me down the right road to sorting out the problem. I thought ZoneMinder was the problem (I have six) because I tried to configure my first two cameras on Video0 and Video1. Those two ...

Re: How many cams on a Single-core Celeron 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM ?

I was using an HP box with an 1.7 ghz AMD Sempron single processor chip and 4 gig of memory. This was on Ubuntu 10.04 desktop. Using six analogue cameras, this system was very overload usually between 2 - 4 on top. Although the home page says Zoneminder, "can often be installed on old hardware ...

Ubuntu 12.04 Server BT878A process crashes

I successfully installed version 1.24 on an old AMD Sempron box using Ubuntu 10.04 desktop and a Camsecure BT878A. Everything worked after using the instructions on http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_10.04_(Lucid_Lynx)_Desktop . to set the system up. The system trundled along but the CP...

Re: Montage issues.

I had a lot of difficulties with montage view. The only thing I can say is that I was not able to get it working under anything but Firefox version 8.01 or 9.01. It did not work under Chrome or IE.

Re: Repeat monitors in montage veiw

Thanks for your reply, I have determined that this does not happen in Firefox only Chrome and IE. I have six cameras. I have created groups. The same thing happens within the groups - multiple of the same streams. Thanks for the suggestion in the wiki. I did look that over. I think I have determined...

Re: Repeat monitors in montage veiw

As I haven't received any suggestions here in the forums, can anybody recommend a way forward? Where do I turn now. I really don't want to set up a Windows box for this but if I can't get this working, I'm going to have to buy a commercial product and put more money in Bill Gates's pocket for the OS...

Re: Repeat monitors in montage veiw

I forgot to mention, I am using Chrome. I have also tried IE 9 and the result is worse. It won't show a grid just five images of from the same camera in one column regardless of the layout I choose.

Any ideas?

Repeat monitors in montage veiw

I’m pretty new to Zoneminder so bear with me if I am asking a silly question. When I display my monitors in a Montage view, the cameras which are displayed are completely random. Sometimes in displays the same camera 5 times and some times it repeats the display of two or three cameras. How do I get...

Re: No GUI on Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop

Thanks Steve,

The first thing I removed from bttv.conf was i2c-algo-bit. After that, the desktop came back. I have no idea what i2c-algo-bit does or whether it is required to make the thing work. I'll play with it for a while and see what happens.

Thanks again,

Dave

No GUI on Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 desktop and I seem to have installed Zoneminder successfully using the instructions here http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_10.04_%28Lucid_Lynx%29_Desktop . I have an eight channel BT878a capture card installed. I created the /etc/modprobe.d/bttv.conf file with t...
