Stuart, Time to start knocking this thread into shape. The title for this thread is not what it is about any longer so you could take some of the information from about your post on 12 October on and post it in a new thread. Point taken. Problem solved anyway - I tried using the "triton1"...

When you have this is the rest of the picture still "live". In other words can you see people walking at the end of your driveway and so on. Yes, it seems i'm getting live images merged in with older images that streak across the picture. As to the picture looking washed out, are you usin...

I spoke too soon. The live images I am getting are being merged into older images. If there is no movement for a long time, everything looks fine, as the old images are the same as the new. If something comes into view, you get a mix of old and new images. The old images are anything from a few seco...

:D Fixed!

I reinstalled the bttv drivers from CVS (which initially made the picture worse), then I tried the output from /dev/video1 (same camera channel), and looks OK (except it still looks washed out).

Now this is getting weird! I am sat at work, and I can see my empty driveway at home with the wheelie-bin I put out just before I left. Yet, I can see my car bleeding into the image. My car is here with me! http://www.aopl48.dsl.pipex.com/zms.jpg At the bottom, you can just see my car. It's more cle...

let me know how you get on with it cos this looks goooood!! James Well, I have it up and running. I'm getting a bit of noise on the picture. If I plug in a second cam, it gets a lot worse, and sometimes I can see bits of the second image bleeding into the first. Not looking good so far. I wondered ...

I managed to get a 16-channel Kodicom card shipped from Hong Kong (to the UK) for £60. Simply Automate want £122 (all inc) for their 4-port card.

Anyone know of a supplier of the Kodicom KMC4400R in the UK/EU? I'm trying to find a reasonably priced 4 port card.

Just tried swapping the cameras again. Same. Just noticed this pop up in the zmwatch log: Watchdog pausing for 30 seconds DBD::mysql::st execute failed: MySQL server has gone away at /usr/local/bin/zmwatch.pl line 121. Can't execute: MySQL server has gone away at /usr/local/bin/zmwatch.pl line 121. ...

I wasn't so much thinking mysql was bad... just that I may have changed a setting somewhere while it was working, and caused it to fail after the boot. That said, I didn't change much, and I have checked it all. It's just that in the /messages log it says "Invalid argument", making me wond...

It's a £15 UCC4 single chip thing I got off e-bay ages ago. I have rebooted a zillion times. Pulled the power. Moved PCI slots. I put everything back as it was (as far as I know), and still it fails to work. I guess I could zap the mysql database settings, and start again, just in case I did somethi...
