Re: ZoneMinder on Raspberry Pi

Thanks for the info. I think you're a little out of my league here. I don't know a whole lot about camera configuration, but maybe someone else around here can help. Just keep in mind that the raspi is very limited in horsepower. If you plan to setup motion detection then you may find that it's quit...

Re: ZoneMinder on Raspberry Pi

So, it looks like your installation issues are sorted and now it's all about camera configuration. It's an IP cam, correct? I remember following some separate steps to install packages required for a USB cam, but I think an IP cam should be easier if you have the URL for the stream. Can you view the...

Re: ZoneMinder on Raspberry Pi

Glad you got the browser stuff straightened out. I'm not sure, but I'd imagine the Java plugin is required only for Cambozola, and perhaps you don't need that if you're running Chromium. I'm not running with Cambozola and Chrome streams my video relatively well. It's never asked for a Java plugin. C...

Re: ZoneMinder on Raspberry Pi

Looks like progress to me. I've never used Midori or Netsurf, but Chrome seems to work well for me. I just tested on my 1.24.2 installation and, for example, when I open the options link and then hit "cancel", the window closes (i.e. it works as it should). Can you try with a more mainstre...

Re: ZoneMinder on Raspberry Pi

You mentioned that you got to the login page, so I doubt HTML linking is your problem. But, FWIW, this is what I had to do manually after installing ZM using apt-get: From the ZM wiki page: No Link to Webserver directories If you get a 404 error when browsing to http://localhost/zm, Zoneminder has f...

Re: ZoneMinder on Raspberry Pi

I tried this one my 256mb raspi board. I installed with apt-get on top of raspbian and it worked pretty much out of the box (after linking the html content to the right location). However, it was unbearably slow. I messed around with shared memory/etc, but I just couldn't get it to work acceptably. ...

Re: Run States and Different Zones

I accomplished something like this by having two monitors configured to the same camera. Even though they have the same camera, each monitor can have a different zone configuration, and you can use run states that enable/disable each monitor depending on whether it's day or night. I have crontab ent...

Inactive zone versus no zone

Quick question: What would be the difference between marking a zone "inactive", or leaving that same portion of the image without any defined zone? I've had ZM running quite successfully for a couple years, but I'm now trying to make some changes to minimize false alarms. Just curious abou...

Re: Foscam FI8908W IP Camera with PT (no Z) Working in ZM 1.

Has anyone gotten presets to work with this? I have my Foscam working well in ZM, and the basic pan/tilt controls work okay using the information from this thread. But I cannot get presets to work. I've tried hardcoding various commands (like mapping 31 to the home function for "go to preset 0&...

I am considering purchasing one of these. Any luck configuring it with ZM?

Thanks,

Thanks. That's unfortunate. I'll send a note to the admin (which I thought would happen when I replied to the PM). In the meantime I won't waste my time on posts. Something seems broken.

So what happens when a post is flagged for being spam?

Over a week ago I tried to start a new thread summarizing my experience installing ZM on a Seagate Dockstar. Immediately I received a PM titled "warning", explaining that my post was blocked because it appeared like spam. I responded asking why and never heard back. It's still not posted. ...

ZM on a Seagate DockStar

I don't know what the record is for installing Zoneminder on the cheapest and lowest wattage device, but it seems the Seagate DockStar would be a contender. For reference, the Seagate DockStar is a Pogoplug device running at 1.2 GHz with 128 megs RAM, 3 USB ports, and it can usually be bought for ab...

Duplicate monitors seems like a really ugly way of doing it. I've done it using cron jobs which load the SQL .MYI and MYD files from different backups depending on whether it's day or night - works for me. I'll try and dig the thread out that explains it. Thanks. That sounds interesting and I'd lov...
