Re: IP or analog? How to decide for home surveillance syste

It seems like the higher resolution of IP cameras would make them the better choice most certainly, especially when an axis207w off ebay can do 1280x720. remember if you want high quality image, don't skimp on processing power on the zoneminder machine. Push it to the limit, and then some more... u...

Re: Striped video screen

post the card model, the camera, and the settings you used when setting up the monitor. These will all be helpful for anyone who can answer. I don't have an analog setup right here to look at, but what you have seems to be a setting problem.

Re: Camera AXIS P1344 Compatible?

I have not found an axis camera that does not work very well with zoneminder. They have the advantage of using on-camera motion detection and sending a tcp trigger to the server.

I lose the events when Auth is enabled

The links are no longer links for all events, and the recent events do not populate the monitor window.
I turn off authorization and it all works. Anybody know where this breaks?

Re: How I can recover the databases and events?

I have a suggestion. I fired up my new server and configured it, and migrated the cameras over. Once I had all the cams running, I kept the old server online to view old events if needed. After a few weeks it was deemed no longer necessary. I took down the old server and never looked back. You can b...

Re: Those of you are running 1.25, is it worth the upgrade?

OK, I'm going to give ubuntu a try. Any tips for getting my repositories right? If using Ubuntu 12.04, one should not have to edit your repositories to install zoneminder. In principle, installing zoneminder 1.25 is as simple as running an apt-get install. I believe there is a guide in Wiki called ...

There are several documented working PTZ cameras operated by ZM. Search for your model.

Those of you are running 1.25, is it worth the upgrade?

I know all upgrades are "worth" it, but in the case of Debian, it will do 1.24.2-8 fine, and has a lot of dependency problems with 1.25
I have a strong handle on the operating system, like the file system, etc.
So what so those of you who have had both?

Re: CCTV System Hardware Help

you can go all-IP cams, so Long as you have the cameras themselves do motion detection. It is neither better or worse than an analog solution, only a little more money and less flexibility with regards to lenses. More flexibility and ease of deployment with the IP cams. The Axis cams will all notify...

TCP trigger has failed after a reboot; what to look for?

Old server 1.22.3-4
has 10 IP cams on it that worked perfectly since build.
Has 11 analog cams still working
IP has not changed
Testing the TCP connection from the axis cam results in "connection successful!"
Zmtrigger.pl is running
What should I be looking for?
