Deleted index.php
I was adding jscalendar to a pretty new ZM and got in a hurry. I'm pretty sure the ver is 1.34.4 Ubuntu 18.04 LTS After getting jscalendar going I thought I'd get rid of the apache index file. Didn't notice that the directory change to /var/www/html/ didn't take. So... deleted my ZM index file by ac...

Re: Camera Recommendations
I have used Dahua for years. Very happy with them. "IP cam talk " has a section for dahua cameras the guys review them and post pictures and videos. I can't say much about the other brands because I have only used Dahua and a couple super cheapies which weren't that bad. Dahua has some awsome PTZ ca...

Re: Monitoring Load On Zoneminder
I use xymon to monitor the zoneminder installs I have done.
It's great for tuning a system.
Load, hard drive, memory. Even network bandwidth.
My XYMON runs in an ESXi VM in Ubuntu server. Very light weight.
Gives you graphs that can be time searched very easily and zoomed up on.

Re: Can you connect to a camera on different network?
I had a friend with no internet options other than Hughes sat at his fishing camp with camera system. I used a Cradle Point MBR1200 router with a Verizon 4g LTS USB dongle to get internet. Then put an ASUS router behind it running OpenVPN in client mode. The VPN was setup as a TAP VPN. This puts bot...

Re: I can't access Sony SNC cameras
I have an older Sony cam working on ZM vers 1.30.4 running in jpeg mode. If I remember right to get jpeg streaming you have to have it setup to do that in the camera. My settings in ZM are remote protocol = http method = simple remote hot name user:password@ipaddress port = port remote host path = /...

Re: Embedding Streaming Video in External Website
About the stream type. I've used this for years and noticed that the link you get from the copy sets the stream type. So, if your ZM is set to stream mpeg asf, the stream link will have that in it and send an ASF stream. /cgi-bin/nph-zms?mode=mpeg&monitor=2&scale=100&bitrate=484000&maxfps=10&format=...

Late to reply, just in case anyone else needs same info.
Most of those will work with Zoneminder.
I have a bunch of Dahuas and one Grandstream
working well on Zoneminder.
Only one I am not sure of is D-Link.
Look into onvif device manager
you can usually get the H264 string from it.

For the live user name wiki says use ubuntu
If you're past that and installing, you pick it.
ubuntu with blank password worked for me.

Re: Appliance ZM : how upgrade zm 1.25 to 1.29 ?
Not sure which appliance you are using, I have one 1.28.1 appliance running on 1.28.1. I think you would be better off doing a fresh install of 1.29. I used the pre-configured ISO to install 1.29.0 on VMware and it does well. You will need to up the video memory to 128mb on the VM in ESXi before you...

I've been playing with Zoneminder since 2006. Once I got to 1.23.3 I stayed right there. Used it for a long time, some of my friends still use it. The timeline on Zoneminder is what keeps most people I know stuck on Zoneminder. I got my first IP cam around 2007 and when H264 got popular I tried a fe...
