Re: Question about setting up ZoneMinder for surveillance general inquiry

1. Your best bet is to set up a Linux "server" or basic headless box. You can use an old PC and get good performance. I use an older i5 quad core with 16 GIG of RAM and a 1 TB drive. 17 cameras record motion in a busy warehouse 30 miles away and the drive is about 70% full at the rate of ...

I tried setting up an IqEye 511 IP camera with no luck. It works fine in a browser as long as you have java installed. To play in a browser just use this http://192.168.1.104 IQeye 511 MJPEG 1.3 Mpix resolution (1280x1024) D1 (704 x 480) @30 fps HDTV (1280 x 720) @ 20 fps 1.3 Megapixels @ 15 fps por...

This is a complete set of instructions for setting up a 4 input bt878a capture card also known as a Pico 2000 with the latest DVD posted here. After you install Unbuntu Linux and ZoneMinder shut down your computer and install your bttv capture card. The first thing to do is add a bttv.conf file with...

I have tried this new DVD install 2 ways, first using the 3rd direct install option and 2nd booting the first live option and selecting zoneminder on the desktop. After install I could not find any difference in the installs. Both installs have nothing on the desktop or any mention of zoneminder in ...

Case of the missing URL.

I am having trouble getting an image in zm4ms. I am using RDMelin's release of ZMLiveCD 1.23.3. As far as i know i have not changed any of zoneminders passwords. I have tried to follow the trouble shooting in previos threads for zm4ms and think it is a problem of the URL settings. My first clue was ...

Performance questions and second network setup

First I am giving myself a gold star for reading all 41 pages. I am confident these questions have not been asked before. Second I would like to thank James Wilson for writing the zm4ms; it is a missing piece of the puzzle many of us have been looking for. Questions 1) From my very limited experienc...

How to view stills in motion detection

I have a question about viewing stills in motion detiction playback. When i use the still button in the playback box for motion detection the stills have that red outline around and over the object that moved. I can not figure out how to get rid of the red overlay so i can study the frame.

How to edit modprobe.conf

I have a cheap 4 channel bttv card and want to add the following line to my modprobe.conf file "options bttv card=77".

The problem is i can not figure out how to edit it. I cannot get to it in terminal mode and if i use file manager i am told it is a read only file.

xawtv 3.95 install problem

I have been trying to install xawtv 3.95 in fedora 7, with what i believe is a successful zomeminder install. from this prompt, [root@localhost ZoneMinder-1.22.3]# i did the following. wget http://dl.bytesex.org/releases/xawtv/xawtv-3.95.tar.gz tar xvfz xawtv-3.95.tar.gz cd xawtv-3.95 dir from the d...

Well i have to chuckle at that one. I chose fedora Linux because zoneminder is developed on it, so i figured it would have to work. And now you are telling me the only Linux with the zm_mpeg.h file problem is fedora. Oh man to funny. BTW i am using fedora core 7.

I looked in this forum and on wiki under fedora install and under patches, and do not see your new patch there. But your fix is such a simple edit i am not worried about it. But i am curious about were that file zm_mpeg.h comes from is it part of the zomeminder install or part of ffmpg? I think it s...
